Gasoline filters are fairly straightforward products, so about the only basis you can use for choice is name brand, if you cannot handle the product and view its manufactured quality. I ordered several pieces of the "GF517" as it is spec'd for my Jeep Cherokee. But the units that I received might or might not be authentic. I really cannot be sure, because there is no ACDelco marking on the product. There are light inked manufacturing codes misaligned on some surfaces, but I really had to search with a magnifying glass to find "GF517" on ONE of the four. The cartons they shipped in were loose/worn and dirty with apparent mechanics' hands handling and not even folded close properly on the bottoms. So it is not inconceivable that these are not original product in new packaging, but they could be copies placed into used cartons taken from some mechanics bay. Well at this low price it's not worth sending back, and they do look like Fram or similar designs, except the metal is "in the white" like stainless steel. That would indicate a quality product.

Took a bit of acrobatics and some sanding for it for fit but otherwise it is fine.

Seems like the slot is supposed to fit in is some dimension and the filter itself is just slightly larger. This makes for a tight fit in an already awkward location.

So this filter is actually identical to the Purolator PureOne (Purolator is a joint venture between Bosch and Mann+Hummel), which in the realm of oil filter enthusiasts (yeah, there is such a thing) is regarded as a pretty decent filter. Purolator also makes the OEM Mopar filter, though the Mopar filter is a rebranded Purolator Premium Plus.

According to a tear-down of identically-sized filters, the Bosch Filtech / Purolator PureOne had the most filtration media, and has a stem-based bypass valve with extra pleats. Nice.

There's its pedigree.

As for how good it is? I've gone through three of them, and haven't had any concerns. They go on nice and smooth, and don't blow up. This filter is built like a tank, and I think I'm ready to convert from my unnatural devotion to Mobil 1 filters.

The Bosch Premium filter is a terrific oil filter. Based on my own experience plus a lot of research, this Bosch is, in my opinion, the best oil filter value on Amazon. I believe it is made by Purolator and based on my comparisons of their internals, it is nearly identical in build to the PureOne filter. With a silicone anti-drainback valve, a very large filter media surface area, and a price of just over $5, I'm not sure why I'd ever by a different filter.

These are indistinguishable from the OEM filters. One tipwhich isn't so much about this particular brand: when you remove the old filter, pay attention to which way the arrows on the side were pointed, so you dont put the new ones in upside down. Cabin filters are designed to work correctly in a particular direction.

I replaced the stock, stripped out bolt on my oil pan for my 1999 Subaru Legacy GT. The original always gave me s**t when trying to loosen it, and I stripped it out the very first oil change after it was seemingly fused to the damn oil pan. I, of course, being 18 at the time, kept using the bolt anyway, perhaps using some sort of elf magic to remove the bolt for each oil change. Finally, my elf magic ran out, and the bolt was stripped to uselessness, and I replaced it with one of these.

This product is so good you'll think you have super oil changing powers, like some sort of very specific and normally useless super hero, and you'll be able to change your oil faster, detect if there are metal shavings (which are a problem if your engine is made out of metal) and it will make it much, much harder to drop and lose. The magnet is like a freaking +10 mana-power-Earth-magnet-eXtreme, and when I pull it out of the oil pan it usually sticks to the side of the oil pan or stays on the wrench, keeping you from trying to find it on the floor of your garage, or having to go wrist deep in whatever you're draining your old oil into. I would abso-freaking-lutely recommend this product to you, especially if your old bolt is looking a bit on the worn side.

This is OEM Subaru part . Although a little expensive, it is made to last a lifetime. I changed it since previous owner had installed a "cheap" replacement. Using any other than a Subaru filter can sometimes create problems. After doing a fluid replacement ( drain and fill 5 times I installed filter. Drives like new. Fluid was only deep red, but I had no idea how long it was in use.

For these vehicles use only the oem filter to ensure no problems later in use.

Wix is also marketed by Napa under their "Gold" label at considerably higher price. Wix is well constructed metal end caps holding the filtering element in place and an anti-drainback valve that is quite sophisticated in design. Definitely preferred over Fram and equal to any OEM quality filter on the market.

I purchase these for my other cars and finally pulled the trigger and ordered it for my truck. Beats the FRAM garbage they sell at Walmart. It has metal end cap and the design is as close as you can get to OEM. Great quality filters.

One Caveat: I had added a bottle of the same brand's carburator and injector cleaner before using this, so you probably won't get such quick results with the first bottle.

Nevertheless, after I started driving after adding a bottle of this, within a short time, my car had a relatively smooth idle and the oil light never came on in traffic. For 5 years, the oil light would come on when idling or in traffic, no matter how clean the oil or how full the crankcase were. I learned to deal with it and manage it (more viscous oil, accelerating when possible, etc.). But since I used this, it has not come on once (except when starting, but so does the check engine light; they are on by default when the engine is not on but the car is).

Again, since I used their less potent fuel cleaner before, it probably sped up the results. But that said, at worst, that just means I would have needed 2 bottles (at most) of this stuff to have a car that can idle smoothly. It's kind of amazing.

The only time I have ever seen such noticeable results with a fuel additive was years ago when, after never having maintained by car beyond a few oil changes, I added Techron to my gas tanks and my MPG went up 3 MPG after 2 treatments (which for a van that only got 12 MPG in the city before, is a big deal).

So, if your car has engine issues, I'd definitely give this a try.

One of my best friends is an automotive enthusiast and has always told me to buy a Bosch oil filter. I finally bought one and he was completely right. Look at this Bosch filter compared to a Fram (what I'd always used) and you'll see the difference. These actually have a filtration system that'll keep your oil clean and debris out of your enjoy. Quick summary:

PROS: Satin, non-oily finish that helps restore the clean, original appearance of plastic and other surfaces. If you don't like the greasy, overly shiny, silicone-based detailers such as Armor-all, this product is for you.

CONS: The odor can be kind of intense at first.

I use this for all of the hard surfaces inside my cars and even the plastic trim on the exterior. I like the fact that it leaves the surfaces with a satin sheen (more like a new car), as opposed to a bright, shiny gloss. Also, it feels slick, but not oily -more like a Teflon kind of slick. I also use it on the black plastic trim on the exterior, such as the side-view mirrors, door handles, and windshield wiper cowling. It restores the dark, rich look of new plastic and also helps hide minor scratches in the plastic.

I get pretty good results when I spray it directly onto the surface and wipe/buff with terry cloth. I don't use it on glass, so when detailing close to windows, I spray it onto the terry cloth instead, before wiping.

Although I like the scent, it is kind of intense after doing the entire inside of my car; it doesn't bother me, but my wife says it gives her a headache. It takes a day or so to "calm down", after which she is okay with it. Your experience my vary, of course.

Since I can no longer find it in local stores, I get it from Amazon. I don't like paying shipping, but I usually get a couple cans at a time so the final price is *okay*.

Tannery works great on leather or naugahyde. I clean my umpire plate gear with it. Cleans up all the dust and dirt and perspiration and leaves a clean, leather smell.

We have light colored seats on our golf cart. Even though we keep it clean and store in indoors, the seats develop a dull film.

Lots of cleaners available,but many make the seats slicky...not a good idea when carting about grandkids. I tried this cleaner and it does work without making the seats too slick. It does seem to condition the seats and does clean them if you apply enough scrubbing to dislodge the accumulation of dirt, suntan lotion, insect spray, and dust. It works as advertised, but my expectations were higher for its ability to clean built up film on the seats. I would purchase again, but probably not before doing another search to find out what else is available at the time.

The Tannery is the best stuff ever. It cleans and nurtures leather. I use it on all my leather gear. I had a leather belt that I took off of a jacket and found it years later. The jacket was like new. The belt was a bit dry and looked its age. I use The Tannery on plastic interior parts. It leaves a shine that can be lessened with wiping by a dry clean cloth. Makes the interior look new and gives it a leatherish type scent. Some may say it is overpowering, I think it gives your car that day one smell. No one sells this stuff anymore so you have to order it. I also use it on all my leather chairs and living room furniture. It makes the leather look like new. I had some light stains on an off-white sofa from a nearby decorative water fountain. The Tannery took them right off with about 3 applications. Even athletic shoes with leather trim can be shined up with The Tannery. Some leather conditioners soften the leather which is not good if you have a leather steering wheel. The Tannery cleans and leaves that new car sheen. If it is leather or even plastic, The Tannery is your overall solution.

First off I must say this is the first full synthetic car care product I have used. After using a number of different products and investing a good bit of money this product is one that I doubt I will ever stop using. Silq is my go to anymore after I wash the car one coat of this leaves a gorgeous finish. For all those who may yet doubt me after doing my friends truck, who detailed professionally for a number of years, switched immediately to using silq without hesitation

I purchased this a few months back and I just got around to using it this summer before the car shows begin. I cleaned it with the voodoo wash concentrate before waxing and the wash brought everything off and the wax was easy to use . Once I got done it shined like new and was perfect. I've used many other products and this is the best I've found. I will never use anthing else again.

I have been polishing my own cars for over 40 years. When a new product comes along I get it and see if it delivers. This one did, kinda. It was really easy to apply and to remove in this area it gets 5 stars. BUT, the shine was only "average" and the "cleaner" part, as touted in the "Cleaner-Polish-Sealant", was "poor". I had to scrub hard to remove plastered bugs and then work on them with my finger nails. I got this $14.99 polish on clearance a KMart for $3.99. For that price, Sure (duh) buy it, but more than $7.99? Nah. FYI Consumer Report has evaluated car waxes. The latest was Nov 2011 (Megular's and Turtle best).
