The fuel filter for the 5th generation Maxima is a "life long, non-serviceable item." This makes it incredibly hard to find at the store. Amazon has it for a good price and it fits perfectly for my car.
I decided to change the fuel filter after the car's idle became incredibly rough. The car would idle around 500 rpm and it was prone to suddenly stalling out. I had to keep my foot on the gas to keep the engine on while braking and when stopped. I tried for a week to find the fuel filter locally but no luck. It got to the point where my car would stall and I'd need to let the fuel pump pressurize the system for a few minutes before starting it up again. I ordered the fuel filter from Amazon and it was here in 4 days with free shipping.
Changing the fuel filter wasn't too hard. There's a full write-up you can google. The fuel pump module is underneath the back seats. The filter fit perfectly. The only problem was 7 months later. After driving great for a long time my filter was disconnected from the fuel pump module. The problem was a loose-fitting hose over the filter's nipple. Do yourself a favor and use a fuel hose clamp the first time. Even though the original filter doesn't need it, put one on this aftermarket filter. It's been about 14 months since then and the car still runs great.
P.S. The fuel filter is supposed to last the life of the fuel pump, but mine was still alive and well. No need to fix something that's not broken.

Amazon's part matching system stated that the filter cartridge would correctly fit my 2004 BMW X5 4.4i V8. This is not the case. I was most upset as I realized this after the car was up, oil was drained, and I did not have another spare. Now I'll know to always have a backup and just rotate the new one in. Lesson learned. The quality of the filter looks good and one of two o-rings fit. The larger diameter o-ring was about twice as thick as the correct one. This after a note was added to the box stating the o-rings would not it for a Honda Rubicon however I was installing it on a Honda Rincon. Fortunately the old o-ring was reusable. I purchased this item to use in my 2006 Linhai "300" scooter. I wished to replace the thin foam stock air-filter arrangement, but maintain the stock air box and appearance. I had read on a scooter forum that this model filter would work. With the exception of a short length of PVC pipe to connect the scooter intake to the filter, no other modifications were required. I threw away the stock filter foam and metal mesh retaining element. The filter and PVC pipe all fit very nicely in the stock air box with the cover on, no problems. I now have the confidence that my scooter has a highly effective, quality K&N air filter, that should be better than the single thin layer of foam that made up the stock air filter. There has been no apparent performance penalties nor need to change the carburetor jetting.

This fit my 2005 Scion XB perfectly. If you've never done it before, the filter is located behind the glove box. All you need to do is remove the glove box by opening it and pulling up (it just clips on/off), then you have access to the filter tray. Doing the whole operation takes about 2 minutes. Some of the "quickie lube" places charge up to $40 to do this, and they use a much cheaper filter.

This is a high-quality product that perfectly fits my 2009 Scion tC. Unlike many other reviewers, my car actually had one installed at the factory, and I'm thankful it did; the filter was filthy, and full of leaves and twigs that didn't make it into my HVAC system. The factory part didn't have the activated charcoal and baking soda that this one has, and I have to say I haven't noticed any difference in the air quality in the cabin as a result of the charcoal and baking soda. So I don't know whether the charcoal and baking soda are really necessary, but a filter definitely is.This filter isn't only to protect the quality of the air you breathe, it also protects the HVAC system from contaminants (like the leaves and twigs I mentioned above,) and it's important to replace it as necessary. My mechanic told me he has had to do expensive repairs on HVAC systems in cars belonging to people who didn't replace this filter when it needed to be replaced. Like any filter, of course, frequency of replacement will depend on the environment in which the car is used; mine is parked under a tree, and it's impossible to keep leaves and twigs out of its nooks and crannies.
By the way, it's really simple to replace this yourself. There's a great video on YouTube, and this filter comes with a larger version of the illustrated instructions in the Scion tC owner's manual. A Google search will also provide you with all the information you need.

I used the OE cabin filter from when i bought my car brand new. It was an excellent filter, no complaints.However when looking for a replacement filter i noticed Fram fresh breeze. I was in love with the concept of baking soda and carbon lining in the filter medium. I couldn't be happier with the result. I get clean smelling air outside, even during traffic hour, and as far as i can tell it traps just as much dirt as the OEM filter media.
considerations:
The filter is significantly heavier than the OE filter which is to be expected from the carbon and the baking soda, and because of its rigidness, take care not to bend or force the filter inside the slot because there is a risk of breakage. your filter can burst at the seams, letting out its contents if not handled with care.
I'm am not sure how long the fresh air effect will last because the capacity of the filter wont allow large amount of carbon and baking soda
with those considerations, I think its the best investment i made changing to fram fresh breeze.

This cabin filter is great and much better than oem. To my surprise, my 2007 scion TC did NOT have a cabin filter installed when it was purchased new. Wow, I could not believe Toyota went to such measures to cut costs.The installation took less than 10 minutes.
