We also use it on stainless steel stantions and pulpit. It cleans, polishes, and leaves a thin oil coating that protects all metals from the salt spray. Don't be put off by the price. Best Deals for 3M Marine Metal Restorer and Polish (18-Ounce Paste)
I purchased this product and another (Le Creuset 12-Ounce Stainless Steel Cleaner ) for cleaning my highly polished (interior and exterior) stainless steel saucepans. It removed (with elbow grease) built up residue on interior surfaces very well and restored them to their mirror finish without adding any fine scratches to the surface, so in my case it has just the right amount of abrasive compound. The outsides were a breeze and came up perfectly with just a light rub. This is a paste product and turns dark grey with rubbing so it has to be removed with a clean cloth, paper towel, or washing. This product beats the Le Creuset product hand down and whilst it is not as messy (as Le Creuset is a clearish liquid) it does not do as good a job , even on relatively clean areas (such as the stainless steel lids to the saucepans) as the the 3M product. The 3M product seems to bring out a deeper shine and I tested this by cleaning half of a lid with 3M and the other half with Le Creuset and you could readily see the 3M product better shine.
