This paint was purchased to apply a matching finish to neutral bits and pieces on a Buell motorcycle. The color is a near-perfect match to the blue annodizing on several existing parts of the bike. Its hard to tell the annodized parts from the painted parts (when applied over silver parts or a silver base). So far, the paint seems to be extremely durable. A great product for that special detail!

It may only be my situation but I looked at this metal cast smoke as a way to take my bright chrome "plastic clad" wheels down to a much darker shade to better match the "Night Runner" effect I'm going for without just going to a black wheel. Then I get the cans in the mail and the cap looks very much like the chrome already on my wheels! Well I have already replaced my original mirrors so I took one of them with the plastic "chrome" covers and figured it was time for a test run. Since this was only a test I spent only a little time with a degreaser wipe down and a very light sanding with 1000grit wet/dry sandpaper. I dropped on three light coats of gray sandable primer 10 minutes apart. (Note: Duplicolor says use their MC100 Metalcast Ground Coat under this instead of a standard primer) I waited 20 minutes and then did three light coats of the smoke 10 minutes apart (has a 1 hour flash time) and since this was not a wheel paint, I figured I'd cover the smoke with the Duplicolor clear wheel coating to protect it a little better. Again three light coats 10 minutes apart. First off, when the smoke goes on, it is in fact the color shown on the cap in the picture. Light coats start out looking spotty but after three light coats, it's dark and looks great. As advertised, this can be done at this point because you get nice metal look by itself. Second, if you do use a clear coat on top of the smoke be advised that when you first spray it on the smoke will immediately look like it is turning an almost white light gray and you think you've ruined it! Thankfully though if you walk away and let it dry for the same 10 minute interval and return, the smoke has also returned to its original dark color and once you put on three light coats you have a great looking dark smoke color with a great shine! As with most clear coats even though the can says two light coats followed by one medium coat stick with three light coats. I tried a "light" medium third coat and got some runs. It is very easy to do so stick to the light coats and it looks great. This Metalcast Smoke is great. I highly recommend this product.
