Very high quality filter, very similar in design and function the porsche-emblem part at much lower cost.
Note these have a foam pre-filter and for some applications there may be some upside re airflow in using a K&N style high flow filter. But for those of us who just want our OEM cars to keep working happily, this is a super choice.Good quality filter for the price. It was worth buying it, now my car runs smoother. I have all sorts of Edelbrock parts. I bought this because I already have one that I am using. I am sending this one to my carburetor builder so when he wet flows my new carb he can set up the jets, IAB, IFR and everything else to work the way we intend. . With the good price it's a no brainer.

For the price you can't beat this product. It's the same unit VW wanted to charge me my first born for. If you have a MK5 Jetta, Golf, or Jetta Sportwagen and you're sitting on about 40k, you should probably buy this. If you're wondering where it goes, look under the dash on the passenger's side. Undo the odd cover and remove it. There's a small tray that slides to the left and the filter drops out. Beware! Old filter will probably be dirty and covered in spiders or bee's. Well, maybe not....but it will be gross.

This product does not include the seal / gasket as shown in the picture. If this does not bother you, then the product is okay. I have had this with another similar product. The original filter (delivered with the car) was a rubber gasket surrounding the filter, and also on the base. This one does not. I've had my 2010 GTI (TSI) for up to 67,000 miles when I finally changed the cabin filter located behind the glove compartment. This was cheap, much cheaper than the OEM filter. Also highly recommended on all the MK6 forums.The entire process took 5 minutes and this filter replaced the original one perfect. No issues encountered and a perfect fit.

I've been changing my own oil on my Porsche for 10 years. I don't feel this item is constructed as good as the OEM/Mahle, but it does appear adequate. In the future, if convenient, I will try to get OEM ones from Porsche online dealers such as Sunset in Oregon. This item, as pictured, does come with an O-ring, which seems to fit comparable to OEM. I will update if I encounter any issues, but I doubt there will be any.
What Amazon offers is a real convenience over getting one from your local "stealer". Additionally, Amazon has a broad selection of quality synthetic oils available for delivery, further increasing the convenience. Since I am a PRIME member, I can basically get a DIY oil-change kit in 2 days without any hassle. This is probably worth an extra star.
One final note is that I would order the oil and filter separately. Amazon often has terrible packing of heavy and light items together. In this case, the oil filter even shipped separately in its own flimsy wrap-around box, which was crushed. The K&N box was also squashed, but the filter appeared to be OK. Amazon shipping was probably thinking this was a steel-can oil filter. So, I took back that extra star for packaging.

When I bought this on Amazon, it was eligible for FREE super saver shipping. Now, however, it does not appear to be eligible. So paying $7 or $8 shipping for this product is not smart. You're better off going to the auto store and picking up Meguiar's current odor-eliminator product. However, this product worked well and smell good. It's got a powerful, odor-eater type smell but it's not offensive. This is my third year restoring boats I purchase and I have used many other "combo" packages and nothing has achieved the expectations like this product. There is a secret to using this on fiberglass and a professional orbital ,(not random) polisher is the key element. Apply the Buff Magic with a small paint brush or similar type tool using small amounts as a little does go a long way. Use the orbital polisher on a clean dry surface set on the low setting working the Buff Magic into the surface and gradually increasing the speed of the buffer to high speed. Exercise caution if you are not familiar with a polisher they can be dangerous. Keep working your buffer in and around the areas of interest but do not hold in one place to long or you'll burn the fiberglass. You will see the shine. After doing aqbout four or five different areas it seems to get easier, I think it's because of the product on the applicator. I have used this on dark blue (25 footer), red (19 footer), and white (36 footer)boats, all over 20 years old and all three produced a brilliant shine after going about it as described above. Use wool application pads as the foam pads break down from the fine grit. Find a nice wax to use afterward as this is a polish and not a protectant and more importantly take your time, this is a great product but it will not be rushed. Truth be known nothing is easy about polishing oxidized fiberglass but this product produces. I am telling you, you will not be disappointed and the time you invest in it is well worth the results.

Absolutely amazing product, but you must follow directions for use. The compound is "Amateur Proof" but not "Idiot Proof". To explain what I mean, it is very hard to make rookie mistakes like burning through the finish or leaving swirl marks even using a standard rotory buffer. The compound "Breaks Down" while using it to a finer and finer polish. If you apply to much pressure on the buffer, or use to high of a speed, the compound breaks down to a very fine grit very quickly. On this same note, I see other comments that it doesn't work well on extremely oxidized finishes, or it's not intended for this purpose. That is simply not true, it works very well on even the most stubborn stains and/or oxidation. The key is how you use it. You must use a variable speed buffer, and turn the speed down all the way on your initial application. By using a low speed, the compound doesn't break down as quickly and this in turn allows the compound to remain at it's "Full Strength" for a longer period. Slow speed and no pressure on the buffer, just let the compound do the work. After you've gone over the surface on low speed, no pressure and moving slow, THEN put your buffer on high speed and polish it out. It may take a second or third application using the same proceedure, but only on extremely weathered finishes. I am very pleased with not only the results, but also not having to have several different compounds on hand to complete a job. This stuff is GREAT! Whew! Buffing out the oxidation from an older model Bayliner (in the South Texas extreme sunshine) is still a chore.The BuffMagic stuff appears to work OK and is not tearing through the thin gelcoat gloss on the vessel.
It still takes time, patience, and a light touch, but this stuff appears to be working as advertised. It buffs, the gelcoat is glossy, and the oxidation is going away. (Just not "instantly".)
Lots of Youtube vids out there to show you "how" recommend a dual-motion polisher (oscillates and spins) for best results so far.
Appears to be great for fixing up old/plastic/oxydized headlight lenses too!

Like others, I thought I was buying a mostly-metal product, by virtue of the color of the handle. However, this product is almost identical to the one I bought at the local Walmart, except it comes with a few more bonnets. The bonnets seem to be of slightly higher quality than the Walmart version (easier to stretch and fit over the head), but it works the same way the Walmart version did. All in all, it does do a great job for someone whose shoulders aren't what they were 40 years ago. Just make sure you wash the bonnets without using fabric softeners, as you will be washing and washing and smearing ....

This design is deceiving, the holes in the handle are there to make it appear to be metal, it's not, it's plastic. I've found this to be the best quality and value filter for BMW X5.... It's just a good filter, what else can I say I can feel the car react stronger for a longer time. .... I used K&N filters for my previous car, a 2001 BMW 325i, all all was well. However, I now have a 2008 328Xi and my experience with K&N has so-far been negative. When I changed the oil recently and opened up the oil filter enclosure, the old K&N was partially collapsed and there was actually a space in the filter where unfiltered oil could get through. I put in the New K&N I'd just purchased but decided to research a different filter. I found on the BMW user forums that the Mann HU 816X was people's preferred filter. I ordered one and as soon as it arrived I pulled out the recently installed K&N. The Mann just seems to be a better fit. The K&N's inside diameter did not fit snuggly on the cage/stem that sticks out of the filter housing cover. I'll check the Mann in a few months to see how it held up compared to the K&N.
